What Is It?

The Plate Validator allows a user to enter a potential license plate value to determine whether or not it would be flagged for rejection by the system. The user can suggest approval or rejection depending on the result of the query.

What Criteria are Evaluated?

Numerous factors are taken into consideration when approving or rejecting a license plate. For example:

• Previously banned license plates in all states
• Potentially offensive internet memes
• Expletives and other potentially offensive terms

License plate values are also checked against the following:

• AAMVA guidelines for personalized license plates
• Number/letter substitutions ("leetspeak")
• Vowel removal
• Phonetic spellings
• Backwards or upside-down versions
